- January 1937 - The losses on men and material for the battle of Madrid have been enormous, for both sides. The Fascist Army around Madrid is practically at the end, if the Republican forces could attack them now, the war would be over. But the Republic is not in the condition to launch a massive counter attack out of Madrid. Franco can convince Hitler to support him even more. Hitler will send in between weeks new men, air planes, tanks and artillery. In a few months Franco will be stronger than ever, while the Republic still struggles to obtain what it needs to survive - weapons. Only Russia is selling weapons to Spain, and those weapons have a long way to come... |
