Main page in
English An illustrated diary of the war, complete with calendar, pictures, comments and background information. We can follow the events day by day. Starts in English and will be (hopefully) translated into Spanish and German if many people ask for that. This is the main part of the La Cucaracha site. Also help for the translations is more than welcome. |

The Spanish Pavilion was one of the Exhibitions biggest attractions, even though the building was small in size compared to the monumental buildings of the Soviet Union and Germany. The Pavilion was designed by Jose Luis Sert with the assistance of Luis Lacasa. Opening was at the 12th July 1937. 25-Nov-2001 *I had to take down many pictures from the Spanish pavilion page due to copyright issues. Read more about it on the page. |

Thanks to Cliff Torrents Colman. This is a scan of a painting his father, a former Republican soldier, had. Does anybody know about the origin of this painting? Who was the artist? Was it popular during the Republic? Please mail webmaster@lacucaracha.info and Cliff Torrents Colman ( email: cliff [at] cliff-colman.net ). See also Cliff's web site dedicated to the memory to his father. |

- From Manfred Behrend - "In Spanien stand's um unsre Sache schlecht..." 60 Jahre nach dem Barrikadenkampf in Barcelona Very sensitive article about the fighting in Barcelona May 1937 between P.O.U.M. / C.N.T. and the P.S.U.C.. The article focuses on how the different left wing parties and people are seeing the past and it shows, that the conflict basically is not over yet.

- - - I will maintain the mirrored pages in original state, except of a small logo on top of the page to indicate that you are still on my site, the date of grabbing and a link to the original place. Why do I mirror the pages at all? Is this not some sort of stealing? I mirror all these pages cause I am afraid that one day they will disappear, like it happened to a lot of good pages about the SCW before. Somebody cleans up the server, another one loose interest and needs the space, whatever reason. This is just something like a security backup.
